The story is told through the eyes of a little boy, Isaac (played by Tyler Chase) who is get’s into trouble at school, does what he pleases, and mostly lies. He lies to his father, his teachers, and anyone who will listen. He comes from a broken home without a mother. His father (played by Rob Patterson) is a war vet and alcoholic who doesn’t really care about anything, not since his wife and Tyler’s mom left.
Once again it is time to take a break from Summer Blockbusters and take a moment to focus on the “smaller” films that are worth your time. As a firm believer in Short films and Independent films, I feel it is important to bring more of these type of films into the spotlight and be recognized as what they truly are; Art. Part of that is supporting your local Film Fests, Independent filmakers, and supporting the “Dollar Baby” program.

Well, we are knee deep in the Summer Blockbuster Movie Season. Between sequels and Reboots, there’s the little films in between. Well, The purge is one of those. I first saw the trailer about a month ago on Reelz Channel and knew right then I HAD to see it! I have and I have some mixed reviews on it. So, here is my review of The purge.
This summer is full of sequels and franchises and with this summer’s Star Trek Into Darkness you are going to get your fill! Star Trek has been around since the 1960′s, with films throughout the last 3 decades, and now it had it’s reboot/prequel in 2009 with Star Trek. Director J. J. Abrams brought the franchise out of the dark and back on top with his reboot and proved he had the magic touch.
Survivor Type is a short film like I’ve never seen before. It is scary, suspenseful, and very graphic! All the ingredients for a great Stephen King adaptation. The story is about a surgeon, Richard Pine (played perfectly by Gideon Emery) who has crash landed on a deserted island after being on a cruise ship on a special trip.
In a world full of blockbusters, big budget studio films, and franchises/reboots/remakes/ and sequels – it is always refreshing to take a break from the CGI invested blockbusters and settle for something a little quieter. I have a huge respect for films, but it is the world of Independent and Short films that I have the biggest respect for. Even more so, I have respect for the up-and-coming filmmaker.
The Brood, one of David Cronenberg’s most chilling and disturbing works finally gets its long-awaited UK Blu-ray debut thanks to Second Sight Films. This early masterpiece from the maestro of horror, stars Oliver Reed and Samantha Eggar and is still as shocking today as it was on its original release. It comes to DVD and Blu-ray packed with brand new bonus features on 8 July 2013.
Adjust Your Tracking: The Untold Story of the VHS Collector is a documentary directed by Dan Kinem, a cinema (and VHS of course) lover, who collected several opinions and moods about this nowadays-so-called “vintage” love for the VHS.
One of the most original and acclaimed horror films of recent years, I Didn’t Come Here To Die makes its debut on dvd courtesy of Second Sight Films. Written and directed by Bradley Scott Sullivan in his directorial debut and starring a cast of hot, fresh young talent including Indiana Adams (Friday Night Lights), Kurt Cole (Up & Down) Madi Goff (A Thousand Cuts) and Travis Scott Newman (Live Fast Die Young), this sharp horror will be released on dvd on 15 April 2013.
