When I’m not doing reviews for movies or books, I enjoy doing interviews. This time I’m visiting with a good friend, director/musician, Tommy McLoughlin. Some of you might remember that I interviewed Tom prior for the Tri County Sun, in October 2014, when he and I discussed the new biographical book release entitled, A STRANGE IDEA OF ENTERTAINMENT: A Conversation with Tom McLoughlin, by author, Joseph Maddrey. Over the years I’ve reviewed everything from films, books, and conventions, but tis my very first review of a CD! It’s really been fun and different, but I was up for the challenge. The CD comes from someone that is not only a musician, but in the film industry as well. Director Mick Garris, has been bringing us films for decades, and is an icon in the horror genre.

With an all-star cast, including the legendary Bob Hoskins alongside John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper, this madcap caper gets the high-def treatment on Blu-ray and is also released on DVD complete with a slew of fantastic bonus features on 3 November 2014.

Important news from the Hortus Animae front: The band has inked a deal with the historic British label Flicknife Records for the worldwide release of their comeback album Secular Music that will start hitting the roads on March 24, 2014. The band also now reveals the frontcover of the album and a teaser video can be seen here.

A video teaser with behind the scenes and studio footage for the forthcoming, yet untitled full-length debut album from doomy heavy metallers Exorcism, featuring the song “Zero G” that appears on the CD, can be seen here. Exorcism, who feature in their ranks guitarist Joe Stump will release their debut album in spring 2014 via GoldenCore Records/ZYX Music.

To celebrate 5 years, Scar for life released for free download a compilation titled Retrospective which contains 10 tracks + 1 new instrumental song. This piece (under the same name) was again written and mixed by Alexandre Santos, but this time drums were recorded at BandHouse Studios in UK by Rómulo Herédia behind the kit for the first time in SFL, guitarist virtuoso Neil Fraser (from Ten fame) and Sérgio Faria on guitar.
