HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE HER: The Making of CHRISTINE, is without a doubt, one of the very best “making of” books I have ever read! I found it unique that instead of numbered chapters, Lee began each new chapter with a quote from different scenes in the film. Definitely interesting and original.

In September of 2012, I had the honor and privilege of interviewing author Stephen Spignesi, who is known as “the world’s leading authority on Stephen King”, according to Entertainment Weekly magazine, and several other reputable publications. My interview covered Mr. Spignesi’s life growing up in Connecticut, his school years, becoming a college professor, his writing career, and his love for The Beatles, and of course, writer Stephen King. The interview was truly memorable for me, and a friendship was born.

I’ve always taken an interest in books, and films, that surround the lives of people of notoriety. Whether they are an actor, musician, or historical figure, it has always intrigued me. We’ve seen these people in the spotlight many times, but it’s what’s behind the scenes that interests me, and grabs my attention. The new film, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, is about the iconic rock ‘n’ roll band, QUEEN, in particular, the bands larger than life lead singer, Freddie Mercury.

The 1980′s was the high point of what is known as the “slasher film” genre. You could bet your bottom dollar that every October you’d see a sequel to FRIDAY THE 13th, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, and yes, HALLOWEEN, playing at your local movie theater. It was a fun time in film, and moviegoers really got into these over the top gore fests, no matter how bad they were. However, many of these franchises burned themselves out, and became movie marathons for those die hard fans, in their own homes.

When we think of those things in life that scare us, many come to mind. Disease, war, death, can be a few of the big ones, but there are simple things as well, spiders, snakes, clowns, claustrophobia, and even the fear of heights. However, there is another fear many people have, FLYING!

When it came time to write this weeks article, I had originally planned to write “Tony’s Fall/Winter Preview”, but that changed once I heard of the passing of Actor Burt Reynolds (an icon in the film industry for many years), at the age of 82, on Thursday, September 6th, 2018. It’s always sad to lose someone, but it is sometimes hard to lose those people that are part of the celebrity world as well, especially if we have been a fan of their work. I felt some of you would appreciate a closer look at this legendary actor and his career, as there are many of us throughout the years who have enjoyed Burt Reynolds films.
