NO SOLICITORS – John Callas

There are films in the horror genre that stand the test of time, FRIDAY THE 13th, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST., HALLOWEEN, JAWS..just to name a few. However, there are some horror films that are considered “cult classics” such as; RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, KILLER KLOWN FROM OUTER SPACE, EVIL DEAD, and MOTEL HELL.

THE INTERVIEW – Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg

It’s hard for me to write about anything when it is surrounded by so much hype, even if the hype has nothing to do with the quality of the film. I find writing about The Interview additionally complicated because comedy is not my bag, not to say I don’t enjoy comedy but I love me some horror, guts and gore. Mysteriously a copy of this unreleased film fell into my lap from anonymous movie executives who wanted the best film critic in the world to look over their film I found it hard to pass up on the opportunity. I wont say if I got this from friends in CIA or NSA or are who at Sony… or TPB…

SCUMBAG HUSTLER – Sean Weathers, Aswad Issa

Film should really be considered by its entire experience, by this I mean first how the film was marketed to you. Did a friend tell you about it or did you see the movie poster and say “I want to see that!” Then there is the how you saw it, did you watch it on your ipad (shame on you if you did) or did you see it in a downtown theater with a leaky roof? And finally there is the film as the core experience of seeing the movie.

THE PURGE: ANARCHY – James DeMonaco

This is the sequel to the surprise 2013 hit, The Purge. Set in the future of 2023, the government grants the public onenight to purge (all acts of violence is allowed including anarchy, robbery, and even murder) for 12hrs. Once the purge is finished, no crime is aloud. The government feels this purge helps control crime, lowers unemployment, and poverty levels.

Halloween, we know, is a feast day when all children, kids and adults love to wear a mask and enjoy the night … in different ways. This feast day becomes an excuse for a group of cheerleaders and jocks to gather in a farmhouse and start partying, but someone is looking at them behind an indian warrior mask. And there will be blood.

SCAVENGERS – Travis Zariwny

Wake (Roark Critchlow) is the leader of a space scavengers team who finds an alien object during one of its universe searches. This object reveals an unknown technology known as the Chaos Generator, made up of three parts, and it attracts Captain Jekel (Sean Patrick Flanery) who is trying to reunite the alien item.

Being a 6yr. in 1977 wasn’t all that exciting, up until May of 1977 when the biggest film in history came to theaters: Star Wars. The epic scifi film that launch a wave around the world of die-hard fans that helped make it the film of legends.

SPARKS – Todd Burrows, Christopher Folino

1920, Rochester, a meteor flashes through the sky piercing clouds, killing some innocent people and donating a huge power to other (fortunate?) thirteen ones. A terrible car accident leaves Ian Sparks (Chase Williamson, John Dies at the End) alone, after his parents’ death, and he tries to throw his thoughts into an unending fight against crime, fostered by costume and mask made by his grandmother. Teaming up with Lady Heavenly (Ashley Bell, The Last Exorcism), Ian faces the most savage criminal of the nation: Mantanza (William Katt, The Man from Earth).

IN THE DEATHROOM – Damon Vineyard

In the deathroom is a short story that was first published in 1999 on an audiobook called, BLOOD & SMOKE by Stephen King. A year later, it was published in Secret windows and in 2002 it was published in King’s collection of short stories called Everything’s eventual. The story takes place in room, a “deathroom”.
