GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY – James Gunn

The Marvel comic book superheroes have been dominating the box office for quite awhile now. Everything from Iron Man to Captain America to The Avengers, but now, a new superhero film has been released like no other. When I first watched Guardians of the galaxy I couldn’t help but think about the old 1980′s Scifi Adveture/Comedy films like Ice Pirates, Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, & even Spaceballs, but Guardians of the galaxy is a lot better than those films.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES – Matt Reeves

When it comes to summer blockbusters, you can always count on many sequels. Some do well, others become great disappointments, but all have high expectations and make lots of money. However, it doesn’t happen very often, very rare in fact, that a sequel goes above and beyond any other film that’s released that summer. When it comes to “time travel” films or shows, one thinks of Back to the Future, Bill & Ted, or even Dr. Who, but time travel in a Superhero movie? Would it work? Well, that’s the beauty of Superhero movies…anything is possible. This film is a “double-sequel”.
