As a special Easter treat, Northgate Pictures is egg-cited to present the first six minutes of Jeremy Todd Morehead‘s Easter Sunday. The slasher throwback stars Robert Z’Dar (Maniac Cop) and Ari Lehman (Friday the 13th).
The director of the film, Brian Stillman, has been a 15yr. professional journalist, a writer of Guitar World, Future Music, Super 7, Revolver magazine and the New York Post. In 2007, he did his first documentary, Toys Are Us: A Revolution in Plastic, which focused on the designing of toys. Brian is also a die-hard collector of toys from the 1930′s-1960′s. He is a huge Star Wars, Star Trek, and Dr. Who fan as well. And a very talented filmmaker as I have now seen for myself.
When I was very young, there really wasn’t that many things I liked to play with. Being a 6yr. in 1977 wasn’t all that exciting, up until May of 1977 when the biggest film in history came to theaters: Star Wars. The epic scifi film that launch a wave around the world of die-hard fans that helped make it the film of legends.
1920, Rochester, a meteor flashes through the sky piercing clouds, killing some innocent people and donating a huge power to other (fortunate?) thirteen ones. A terrible car accident leaves Ian Sparks (Chase Williamson, John Dies at the End) alone, after his parents’ death, and he tries to throw his thoughts into an unending fight against crime, fostered by costume and mask made by his grandmother. Teaming up with Lady Heavenly (Ashley Bell, The Last Exorcism), Ian faces the most savage criminal of the nation: Mantanza (William Katt, The Man from Earth).
With the change of Winter here and finally leaving us and summer is so close we can smell those BBQ’s cooking and feel that summertime heat almost here, so does the changing of movies in theaters and on DVD. April is the turning point, the Summer Blockbusters aren’t quite here yet (that officially begins 1st of May traditionally) and April wraps up the last of the previous years releases.
It gave 80s horror a gore-filled boot up the backside, proudly challenging others to match its level of blood and guts, and now Re-Animator is being brought back to life, this time in a stunning high definition Blu-ray thanks to Second Sight Films.
I don’t do reviews that often on horror movie sequels, but once in awhile a film is quite personal with me and I enjoy talking about. Today, April 13th, 2014, is the 30th Anniversary of Friday the 13th part IV: the final chapter, one my favorites in the franchise and one of my favorite movie memories.
Typhoon Films has announced that The killing games will be released worldwide on Apple Itunes, Google Play and other outlets on April 22nd, 2014. The feature film had its Worldwide Premiere at the Calgary International Film Festival, and it’s U.S. Premiere in San Francisco at Another Hole In The Head Film Festival. It’s last stop on the circuit was at Shock Stock Horror Convention in London, Ontario this past weekend.
When you talk about Stephen King, one has to remember that there is a huge world connected to the famous author. There are filmmakers and there are authors who adapt his works and write about his works. Some of the most famous names who have written about King are Bev Vincent, Rocky Wood, and Stephen Spignesi just to name a few.
First off, I never even knew this book existed until a friend of mine had an extra copy and was willing to make a trade. It was certainly worth it and I thank him for that. The book is a collection of Hans exclusive interviews with everyone from filmmakers such as, Frank Darabont, Mick Garris, and “Dollar Baby” filmmakers to writers such as, Peter Straub, Stephen Spignesi, Bev Vincent, and Robin Furth. And of course, he has interviewed the man himself, Stephen King.
