When we think of those things in life that scare us, many come to mind. Disease, war, death, can be a few of the big ones, but there are simple things as well, spiders, snakes, clowns, claustrophobia, and even the fear of heights. However, there is another fear many people have, FLYING!
Trends come and go, but one of the most recent seems to be sticking around and is popular among adults. I’m talking about coloring books… for adults! Yes, that childhood pastime has returned, but this time it’s with themes that appeal to the nature of us grownups, and with a vast variety of subjects, this new market has opened the door for many artists and illustrators, allowing them as well, the opportunity to do something fun and whimsical with their art.
Here we are, already in the first week of January 2018, looking forward to new goals, plans, and possibilities. Before you pack up your Christmas tree, or start your 2018 to do list, let’s take a moment to look back at some of the best that 2017 had to offer in film. Here are my…Top 15… favorite films of 2017.
Sarah French has proven time and time again that she is a talented actress, climbing the ladder of success. Now she has decided to add to her repertoire, trying her hand at writing. Her first book…Haunted Journeys: Salem, is co-written with Joe Knetter. It is an informational book, and I found it fun to read. Not too wordy, nor boring, but just enough to pique my interest and curiosity.
To be a fan of something, anything (movies, books, music, games, tv shows), you can watch them 100 times, read the books over and over, dress up in Cosplay, go to conventions, have huge collections, heck..even have tattoos of your favorite characters! However, I believe a truly, major, die-hard fan does all those things AND does something else: studies! I mean, why not go deep into your fandom and find out fun facts, secrets, behind-the-scenes stories, and trivia that you may have never known before. One of the ways of doing this is by buying books about that favorite thing. In this case, the subject is, without question, one of the top greatest writers of our time: STEPHEN KING!
When it comes to writing, they say, “one should write what they know.” Well, Mick Garris knows PLENTY, about living in the San Fernando Valley, and equally as much about the film industry. In his last novel, Salome, he covered both of those subjects, and now in his latest, he draws us back in again to the world of, bright lights and movie stars, or should I say…just another day in the Valley!
I have read many autobiographies in my life. I’ve found them to be the answer to that question many of us may have: What REALLY goes on behind the scenes? Some bio’s play it safe and sugarcoat, while others go ALL out, and tell it like it is. In this case, actress Rutanya Alda, has done that very thing, gone all out, and tells it like it is.
Just about everyone in the world know’s who Stephen King is. He is well-known around the world for scaring us with his books, movies, and television series. He is one of the biggest authors of our generation and with over 60 novels, over 50 films, and many well deserved awards under his belt – King has earned his spot in writing history.
James Turrentine, our lead character, is a famous writer who knows everything there is to know about the film industry, and I mean… EVERYTHING… from the glitz and glamour, right down to the ugly, backstabbing side of the corporate film studios.
Stephen King. A writer that is without question, the “Master Storyteller of our Generation”. He will go down in literature history along with the works of Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Ray Bradury, and Bram Stoker. Part of King’s success is the writer’s who bring his personal life and works to the spotlight for fans around the world to learn from. There are many books about King, his works, and specific Companions that help explain everything you ever wanted to know about that particular story.
