AVENGERS: ENDGAME – Anthony Russo, Joe Russo

Avenger Endgame

AVENGERS: ENDGAME is the sequel, and “final” (?) film to the MARVEL Universe AVENGERS franchise. It’s also the 22nd film in the MARVEL Universe films. This is one of those releases that is so big, so important, and has been so anticipated, it makes it nearly impossible to review without revealing even the slightest events , but I will do my best to keep it spoiler free.

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY – Bryan Singer

Bohemian-Rhapsody

I’ve always taken an interest in books, and films, that surround the lives of people of notoriety. Whether they are an actor, musician, or historical figure, it has always intrigued me. We’ve seen these people in the spotlight many times, but it’s what’s behind the scenes that interests me, and grabs my attention. The new film, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, is about the iconic rock ‘n’ roll band, QUEEN, in particular, the bands larger than life lead singer, Freddie Mercury.

HALLOWEEN 11 – David Gordon Green

HALLOWEEN 2018

The 1980′s was the high point of what is known as the “slasher film” genre. You could bet your bottom dollar that every October you’d see a sequel to FRIDAY THE 13th, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, and yes, HALLOWEEN, playing at your local movie theater. It was a fun time in film, and moviegoers really got into these over the top gore fests, no matter how bad they were. However, many of these franchises burned themselves out, and became movie marathons for those die hard fans, in their own homes.

JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM – Juan Antonio Bayona

Jurassic World fallen kingdom

It’s hard to believe that 25 years ago in June of 1993, the first JURASSIC PARK film was released in movie theaters world wide. I saw it with my family at the theaters across the boulevard from my home, in Sherman Oaks, CA. I remember the mind blowing experience of seeing the amazing dinosaur F/X for the first time. Steven Spielberg opened the door to a whole new world when he created JURASSIC PARK. That film made a zillion dollars, and was the number one film of all time, for a very long time.

GREASE – Randal Kleiser

grease

In 1977, John Travolta was a box office superstar with his disco hit film, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. Not only did he return to the big screen dancing, but this time he sang his way in to our hearts, with yet another box office smash, GREASE, which takes place in the 1950′s. The film GREASE was based on the hit stage musical of the same name, and featured an all-star cast.

JAWS 2 – Jeannot Szwarc

jaws-2

JAWS 2… is the other film that was released on June 16th of the same year, and is a sequel to JAWS, the box office mega hit. This film is the polar opposite to that of the musical I just reviewed. I’m talking about returning to the dark, frigid waters of Amity Island, which was also the setting of the first film. You might be asking yourself, what’s so special about this film? Well, besides being the 40th anniversary, it is also a decent sequel, and horror film.
