SCUMBAG HUSTLER – Sean Weathers, Aswad Issa

Film should really be considered by its entire experience, by this I mean first how the film was marketed to you. Did a friend tell you about it or did you see the movie poster and say “I want to see that!” Then there is the how you saw it, did you watch it on your ipad (shame on you if you did) or did you see it in a downtown theater with a leaky roof? And finally there is the film as the core experience of seeing the movie.

SPARKS – Todd Burrows, Christopher Folino

1920, Rochester, a meteor flashes through the sky piercing clouds, killing some innocent people and donating a huge power to other (fortunate?) thirteen ones. A terrible car accident leaves Ian Sparks (Chase Williamson, John Dies at the End) alone, after his parents’ death, and he tries to throw his thoughts into an unending fight against crime, fostered by costume and mask made by his grandmother. Teaming up with Lady Heavenly (Ashley Bell, The Last Exorcism), Ian faces the most savage criminal of the nation: Mantanza (William Katt, The Man from Earth).

MACHETE KILLS – Robert Rodriguez

Let me first tell you, this film is not for everyone. Certain directors have a fan base that pretty much follow them anywhere. If you’ve seen director Robert Rodriguez‘s other films such as; Planet Terror, Desperado Trilogy, or the original Machete then you will be familiar with Machete kills humor, over-the-top violence, and nods to the “grindhouse” B-films of the 70′s.

PACIFIC RIM – Guillermo del Toro

Every summer as far back as I can remember, there has always been one summer film that stands out above the rest. In 1975 it was Jaws, in 1977 Star Wars, in 1982 E.T., 1993 Jurassic Park and so on. This summer there is one film I believe will be the BIG blockbuster of 2013. That film is Pacific Rim.

MAN OF STEEL – Zack Snyder

The Summer Blockbuster Train travels onward. We’ve seen some hits and some misses so far, but what could be the biggest film of the summer is now out in theaters! Man of steel has hit theaters and hit it hard. The latest Superman film has already broken box office records and here is my review of Man of steel.
