WHITE ZOMBIE – Victor Halperin

“They are not men monsieur, they are dead bodies.” This is going to be so hard for me to write about a great Lugosi film and nor write 9000 words on Lugosi the MAN … It’s stunning to me how overlooked this brilliant gem of a film is.

PARANOID: A CHANT – Jay Holben

It’s time again to bring you the very best in Short film entertainment and by doing so that means, yet another review of a “Dollar Baby” brought to you by the Stephen King Program. King’s “Dollar Baby” film program is for up-and-coming filmmakers to show the world their work and at the same time adapt one of King’s short stories to scare fans around the world. This time, our “Dollar Baby” is from filmmaker Jay Holben and he has adapted King’s short story, Paranoid: a chant, from the book, Skeleton crew.

MAN OF STEEL – Zack Snyder

The Summer Blockbuster Train travels onward. We’ve seen some hits and some misses so far, but what could be the biggest film of the summer is now out in theaters! Man of steel has hit theaters and hit it hard. The latest Superman film has already broken box office records and here is my review of Man of steel.

SURVIVOR TYPE – Billy Hanson

Survivor Type is a short film like I’ve never seen before. It is scary, suspenseful, and very graphic! All the ingredients for a great Stephen King adaptation. The story is about a surgeon, Richard Pine (played perfectly by Gideon Emery) who has crash landed on a deserted island after being on a cruise ship on a special trip.

THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER – Stephen Chbosky

When I grew up in the 1980′s, I was raised on the “John Hughes’ Generation” of teenage films. Films like Sixteen Candles, ‘The Breakfast Club, Weird Science and Pretty in Pink. At times, it actually helped survive high school. Although I don’t think there is just one secret to that part of growing up, but sometimes films help.

When it comes to Directors, most people think of the “big boys” like Spielberg, Lucas, Cameron, Scorsese and Eastwood, but the younger generation has their fair share of great Directors as well; Kevin Smith, Robert Rodriguez, Bryan Singer, and of course, Quentin Tarantino.

SKYFALL – Sam Mendez

There have been many film franchises that have come and gone. Some of these franchises have continued to entertain us for many years, but none have lasted as long as James Bond! One of the most iconic film characters of all time. This has been the longest continually running film franchise of all time and 2nd (behind the Harry Potter series) to make the most money at the box-office.

THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL – John Madden

When we eat food that is not good for us, we call it “Junkfood”. We know it’s bad for us, but we eat it anyway. The healthy food is there, waiting for us to do the right thing and eat it, enjoy it, and it’s better for us. And in the end, we are satisfied and wonder why we didn’t try it sooner.

PROMETHEUS – Ridley Scott

Well, summer blockbuster season is on it’s way. There’s been some hits and some misses so far, but the season is still young and anything is possible. For me, I can safely say I have seen what just might end up being my Favorite Film of 2012. That’s a bold statement considering there’s still many more films to still come out, but when I walked out of the theater from seeing Prometheus, it was the first thought I had.
