A VERY TIGHT PLACE – Stephen Tramonatana

a-very-tight-place

Stephen King has run the gamut of every scenario possible with his stories, and with characters ranging from vampires, werewolves, killer clowns, cars, dogs, cats, and monsters from other worlds, and nearly everything else we can think of. However, Stephen King has at times had a very twisted imagination, or so it seems. The short story A VERY TIGHT PLACE was first published in the May 2008 issue of McSweeney’s, and later appeared in King’s 2008 collection of stories entitled, Just After Sunset.

This story is about Curtis, a middle-aged man who is lured to a construction site by his very unfriendly neighbor. The two have had numerous confrontations with one another regarding legal disputes over property rights, and the death of Curtis’s dog, whom he blames his neighbor for. Once Curtis is at the site, he is then forced into a porta potty, locked in, and is left to his demise, along with the most disgusting and foul odors one can imagine, not to mention other creepy encounters. Poor Curtis, I wonder how all this will turn out for him?

This Dollar Baby was disgustingly entertaining, and well done. With an interesting soundtrack, enjoyable performances, especially the two main actors, a bit of quirky humor, and actually seeing the amazing, but difficult way of filming in a porta potty, I think Stephen Tramontana hits the mark with this adaptation. This is a Dollar Baby film you won’t want to miss. I do however, recommend viewing it…after lunch!

STEPHEN TRAMONTANA – Interview

Stephen King has scared us countless times over 40 years, and has done so every way imaginable. However, there are two short stories in particular that are not only frightening, but considered gross. One of those is the short story A VERY TIGHT PLACE. This story is about a man trapped in a porta potty. Director Stephen Tramontana took this story, and has now brought it to the big screen, and I must say his adaptation is great!

There are actually a few versions of the Dollar Baby film, BEACHWORLD. I have personally seen only one other version, and that was animated, by Dollar Baby filmmaker, Maria Ivanova, so this was the first time seeing a live-action version of this story.

ALIEN – Ridley Scott

Alien

In the 1970’s, science fiction was at the height of its popularity, and some of the most classic films in history were released during that decade. WESTWORLD, PLANT OF THE APES, THX-1138, LOGANS RUN, and SILENT RUNNING, were considered some of the greats. However, it wasn’t until 1977, when a little film called STAR WARS hit the box office , changing the genre completely, taking it in a new direction.

Adam Marcus – Interview

When you look back at some of the young and upcoming directors of the very early 1990’s, you’ll see names like Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Guillermo del Toro, just to name a few. However there is one more name to add to the list: Adam Marcus. He was born on July 24th of 1968, in Westport Connecticut, and was actually quite young when he began his career.

It’s amazing that the Stephen King Dollar Baby Program has been around for over 40 years! This program has helped so many up-and-coming filmmakers, not to just take their vision of a Stephen King story and put it on the big screen, but it has also opened many doors for them to bigger projects within the film industry.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME – Anthony Russo, Joe Russo

Avenger Endgame

AVENGERS: ENDGAME is the sequel, and “final” (?) film to the MARVEL Universe AVENGERS franchise. It’s also the 22nd film in the MARVEL Universe films. This is one of those releases that is so big, so important, and has been so anticipated, it makes it nearly impossible to review without revealing even the slightest events , but I will do my best to keep it spoiler free.
